Maine Computer Services

Who We Are:

Maine Computer Services was formally founded by Sheldon Arford in early 2009 when he discovered that a vast majority of the state was gaining access to high-speed internet services, but only a fraction were using it.  He discovered that people simply didn't know where to go to get the help they needed to get set up, and often times could not afford the options available.  After researching the competition he discovered that most companies were charging an outrageous sum of money for simple, quick fixes.  The rest would create elaborate ruses to get unwitting customers to spend far more than they should have.  Few offered tutorials or classes in the comfort of the customers home, and those that did charged a substantial fee.

Sheldon Arford

A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, Sheldon has been involved with building and fixing computers since he was a child tinkering with Commodore 64's and 80x86 machines.  His first computer built was a 286 running DOS, and ever since he has built custom machines for himself and others as a hobby.  In 2004 after nearly a decade of working on boats he became a licensed captain.  He used the next five years to run boats and tinker with the electrical systems in hopes of integrating computer systems into a marine environment; not an easy task when water and salt are two of a computers worst enemies.  In 2006 he began to tinker with integrating computer systems into cars and commercial trucks.  Both ventures lead to an in-depth knowledge of the design required to integrate systems into 12-32V DC systems.  In 2008 he began to do research into starting a company that could cater to the unique needs of the residents of Maine.  Many of us have the need to use a computer in environments that most companies simply cannot accommodate, and as such Maine Computer Services was established in early 2009.  From farms to fishing boats, cars to cabins; we can set you up with the right system for you and your environment.
